WHO IS PARHAM?

Parham Banafsheh holds credits as a cinematographer, camera operator and focus puller on award-winning projects with companies ranging from local Indigenous-run urbanink, to Hollywood Studios. He is known for his work on Universal Studios, Paramount and Netflix films as well as video works exhibited in galleries across Canada.

Parham grew up In Tehran, Iran with a disposable camera in-hand. There, his love for photography flourished, then quickly developed into a passion for movie making. After immigrating to BC, he studied at Vancouver Film School and then graduated from Capilano University’s Cinematography program while working continuously on projects with Front Street Studios. Over the last 10 years, he has brought his unique perspective as a queer, BIPOC artist to a multitude of indie films, exhibitions and music videos while expanding his skillset through a variety of positions on commercial projects.

Having filmed stunts and explosions, dancers flying through the air suspended over downtown Vancouver, live-festivals, Indie feature films and over ___TV series, Parham has become proficient in various positions and environments within this industry. He initially joined the camera department as an assistant and worked up to focus pulling, then camera, crane and Steadicam operating. Through these positions, he built a strong foundational knowledge of what it takes to organize and lead a department. Now as a cinematographer, he understands how to leverage his experience and collaborate with a team to create compelling visual stories in a high stakes environment.
